Client Brief
Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team required specialist partitioning solutions for its new state-of-the-art technology campus in Northamptonshire. Spanning approximately 300,000 sq ft across multiple buildings, the development brings together design, manufacturing, testing, logistics and staff facilities to support the team's Formula One operations.
The project demanded high-performance partitioning systems capable of separating advanced manufacturing areas, cleanrooms and support spaces while achieving stringent fire, acoustic and aesthetic requirements. Bespoke solutions were also required to accommodate specialist architectural features and integrated building services without compromising functionality or appearance.
The Solution
Working with Ridge and Partners, McLaren Construction and SDC, we designed, manufactured and installed over 6,500m² of bespoke fire-rated and non-fire-rated modular partitioning systems across the campus. The solution was tailored to meet the technical requirements of advanced manufacturing and cleanroom environments while delivering the high-quality finishes expected within a flagship Formula One facility.
A key innovation was the development of a bespoke 125mm partition system incorporating a fire-rated back-to-back flush dado. This allowed electrical services to be fully concealed within the wall construction, creating a clean architectural finish while maximising usable space. To ensure compliance with the project's exacting standards, we also undertook a series of project-specific fire tests.
The project included a range of specialist door systems, including manual and automatic sliding doors, some requiring structural integration to support door leaves weighing up to half a tonne. We also developed a bespoke glazed pocket wall system for the main reception, creating a striking entrance feature with hidden automation and door tracks. The completed solution combines technical performance, architectural quality and innovative engineering, helping create a world-class facility for one of motorsport's most prestigious teams.
