M Group is supporting growth and development at London Gatwick, utilising the breadth of solutions that we provide.
Situation
London Gatwick commissioned the services of M Group as it embarked on a major infrastructure upgrade, launching its Passenger Boarding Bridges Replacement Programme for 2025 to 2026.
The initiative aimed to enhance passenger experience and operational safety by replacing key passenger boarding bridges (PBBs) across the airport. A PBB is an enclosed, elevated walkway that directly connects the terminal building to the aircraft, protecting passengers and staff from the weather, ground support equipment and other localised hazards.
Challenge
The airport has more than 70 PBBs and we were initially instructed to replace several bridges.
Solution
Watch this short video to see how our team delivered the work.
Throughout the delivery phase, health and safety remained our priority, with comprehensive training and PPE provided in conjunction with our high-quality assurance procedures. This helped to reduce risk to the environment, passengers, and cost.
Result
The first phase of replacing several PPBs has been concluded with a thorough demobilisation and a formal handover of assets and documentation, marking the successful completion of the project.
We were also awarded the work to survey and design further PBBs at London Gatwick prior to future phases of replacement works being awarded.
