In 2019, as a result of the UK lagging behind much of the world in rolling out full fibre infrastructure, the UK government called upon the telecoms industry to target 80% full fibre premise coverage across the country by 2025 and 95% by 2030*.

The industry responded with a surge of investment and alongside incumbent suppliers such as Openreach and VMO2, a generation of alternative network (altnet) suppliers were formed.

We were selected by our clients due to our ability to mobilise at scale to build high volumes of full fibre network needed to meet their ambitions.

Through M Group Telecom, we’ve mobilised to create a full turnkey service that provides full fibre networks for our clients, including Openreach, VMO2, Gigaclear and OGI.

We operate our fibre network build services across the vast majority of the UK including the South West, South East, East, the Midlands, North East and North West of England, South Wales and Scotland.

We offer services including street-based electronic and intrusive surveys, high-level and detailed designs, network construction, testing, commissioning and handover to client.

We’ve delivered:

  • 2,289 km of spine cable over the past three years
  • Highly urbanised builds in city centres, as well as in remote locations in areas of Scotland
  • High level infrastructure projects to provide fibre diversionary routes.

M Group Telecom is the largest builder of full fibre networks in the UK, delivering for two of the largest network providers.

We build full fibre networks for over 1.2 million homes per year.

Note:
*The Conservative Party’s 2019 commitment was to deliver nationwide gigabit-broadband by 2025. The Labour Government has said that it is committed to achieving these targets. The National Infrastructure Commission, in its annual infrastructure review for 2024, said that it expects the 2030 target to be met if the private sector continues to deliver and the government maintains its funding commitments.
