As the rollout of full fibre networks reaches its peak, owners of fixed telecom networks are focusing on how to maintain, upgrade, connect, and repair their assets.

This can be complex, as it involves various skills and capabilities for assets like ducts, chambers, manholes, poles, cabling, joints, and customer equipment.

In 2023, Openreach started to work with their supply chain to create a new contract that covers both their fibre and older copper networks across the entire country.

Openreach created a new contract that fitted the changing needs of their customers.

The contract would manage their new full fibre network, while also handling the legacy copper network during it phasing out over the next decade.

The new contract includes a challenging set of service levels, due to the volume in which the client is expanding fibre connectivity.

Services include everything from daily surveys and quick response times for safety issues to emergency repairs and regular maintenance programs.

We saw this as a great chance to completely redesign the service we provide to Openreach.

We centralised our support and scheduling and introduced a new platform to help our largest client.

Hosted on the industry leading Salesforce Field Service (SFS) platform,This new system gives us the flexibility to deploy materials and field resources wherever they’re needed, even on tight deadlines.

It includes a nationwide logistics service with over 47 depots to support our clients and a dedicated team for scheduling and dispatch. Our goal is to be the chosen repair and maintenance supplier for fixed network operators in the UK, with Openreach at the centre of our efforts.

Our repair and maintenance capabilities include:

  • Quick, reliable first-line responses
  • Reactive repairs
  • Planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
  • Support for both active and passive network
  • Services for core, RAN, and access networks
  • Work involving civils, fibre, copper, facilities, and more
  • A 24/7/365 Network Operations Centre
