Scottish Water required a comprehensive upgrade to the Perth Sewage Treatment Centre to support the Bertha Park development, which will increase the population equivalent from approximately 70,000 to 105,000.
Client Requirement
- Enhancing inlet works, aeration systems, and sludge treatment facilities.
- Integrating new mechanical and electrical systems with existing infrastructure.
- Ensuring compliance with modern standards for energy efficiency, control, and reliability.
A critical part of this upgrade was the installation and integration of new Motor Control Centres (MCCs) to support increased operational demands across multiple areas of the site.
Our Solution
We were appointed to deliver MCC integration across the upgraded works. Our scope included:
- Installation of a new MCC to support the upgraded inlet works, including new screens, actuators, and valves.
- Upgrades to MCC5 to accommodate increased motor capacity for surface aerators (from 11kW to 15kW), ensuring sufficient aeration for the expanded treatment process.
- Enhanced cabling and EMC filter installation within MCC starter compartments to meet electrical compliance and reduce interference.
- Integration of three new MCCs and one LVSB panel with the existing infrastructure, enabling seamless control and monitoring across the new inlet, aeration, sludge dewatering, and final settlement tank systems.
Our team worked closely with the main delivery partners to ensure timely installation, commissioning, and handover of all MCC systems.
