Ed Godsiffe and Ellie Harrison from M Group Environment Services have taken the lead on creating an updated guide aimed at helping civil engineering SMEs achieve PAS 2080 accreditation.

The document, published by the Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA), is a ‘how to’ guide for SME members entitled ‘Carbon Reduction and PAS 2080 Demystified’.

It’s designed to support SMEs on their journey to aligning with or attaining the PAS 2080 Carbon Management in Infrastructure standard, which is one of the key system tools available to civil engineering contractors for driving sector decarbonisation. The guide includes advice, examples of good practice and supporting tools and documents designed to help civil engineering SMEs.

PAS 2080 guides the management of carbon across the lifecycle of buildings and infrastructure and implementing the standard can lower project costs and emissions, as well as enhance tender competitiveness.
Using PAS 2080 shows commitment to decarbonising the built environment and effective carbon management and I’m proud to have been closely involved with writing CECA’s updated guide, which I believe will be invaluable to SMEs.”

Ellie Harrison, M Group’s Senior Environmental Consultant

PAS 2080 is embedded into BAU for us, and I’m delighted we can use our expertise and experience to support our SME supply chain.”

Ed Godsiffe, M Group’s Director of Sustainability

On 6th October Ed is chairing CECA’s next Environmental Sustainability Group conference, where the launch of the PAS 2080 guide will be discussed.

CECA’s online launch event for the guide takes place at noon on 5th November. It’s an opportunity to learn about the guidance and hear from members who’ve embraced carbon reduction and are seeing tangible benefits in client engagement, delivery, staff awareness, and innovation.

M Group will be distributing ‘Carbon Reduction and PAS 2080 Demystified’ to our relevant suppliers, to support the reduction of carbon emissions.
