Across our Group, we have a number of Environmental Advisors who make sure we’re protecting the environment and communities that we work in.

At M Group Energy, our Environmental Advisor (Ecology) Rebecca Dickson has worked to protect various bird species that we encounter while undertaking work on pylons.

One of our recent projects, the ZA Overhead Power Line Route refurbishment showcased how we can balance infrastructure upgrades with wildlife conservation. We identified Curlew nesting sites near our work area on Lauder common.

To protect them, we used innovative dissuasion techniques to encourage nesting away from our site. I’m proud that alongside our ongoing maintenance works, two Curlew pairs successfully bred and fledged chicks.

As we look to the future, I’m excited about the potential to further bring wildlife conservation into our infrastructure projects. It’s not always easy, and we face challenges every day, but the rewards of seeing wildlife thrive alongside our work make it all worthwhile. It’s a responsibility I take seriously and a mission that seems to offer new challenges and rewards every day.

ESG drivers shape our sector, driving innovation to tackle client challenges.
