As we continue the safe delivery of essential water infrastructure works for our clients and their customers, our teams have introduced FYLD.

A digital platform which supports our ability to carry out in-depth risk assessments through artificial intelligence (AI).

Our teams on our Yorkshire Water, United Utilities, Thames Water and Scottish Water contracts have been using the technology to transform video and audio footage into real-time workflows, video risk assessments and analytics dashboards.

Using the software, our operatives can record a location with their smartphone, commenting on any hazards identified. FYLD converts the video and audio into a risk assessment, which can then be reviewed and signed off by our supervisors. By using the software, the level of remote oversight our supervisors can gain on one site visit increases.

Since the introduction of the tool to our sites, we have seen risk assessments sped up by 72%, with higher levels of accuracy. This has led to a reduction in the number of site visits required and a reduction in hours of travel time, resulting in a carbon saving of CO2.
