We asked our thriving armed forces alumni to reflect on their experiences, and what Remembrance Day means to them.
Why is Remembrance Day is important to you personally?
Having served in the forces this is a time to reflect on all those that have lost their lives, even those that we did not know. But for those I did know its time to reflect on the memories I had with them, knowing what we went through in training and our careers as they have paid the ultimate sacrifice.
How does your service or connection to the Armed Forces shape your perspective?
I have always been an outgoing lively person, the army gave me the confidence to continue being like that.
Make the most of life and enjoy it as much as you can as it can be taken away in an instant
What is the impact of remembrance on you, your family, or your community?
I think for me as serving in the army remembrance day now has more of an impact on my family as they know of my time in the army.
Can you explain the value of having a supportive employer during this time?
Its really good to know that M Group are supporting its armed forces, it gives you that feeling of belonging and that your service was appreciated.
Are there any traditions or moments of reflection you take part in?
I say every year I'm going to march with some old mates, but end up just going to reunions!
We understand the unique perspective you bring
