What is your role and what do you do day-to-day?
My role involves rolling out training to the field and the wider M Group operations. This includes training existing meter workers and novice day-one employees. I cover both smart metering and non-communications tasks for companies like EDF, OVO, and British Gas.
How did you get to where you are today in your career?
When I first joined, I was eager to push myself and let the business know I wanted to progress. I started applying for field manager assistant roles and then field performance coach roles. It took a lot of hard work and persistence, but after about three attempts, I was given the opportunity to lead the roaming team with the help of a field manager. After about six months to a year, I was asked to go to London to help coach the team there with the newfield manager, which was a huge success. On my way back from London, I received a call from the head of operations, who was keen for me to use my skills in TTACS (Technical Training and Compliance). I was seconded for six months, and before the end of that period, I signed a contract as a permanent member of the team.
What do you love or enjoy most about working at M Group?
From day one, M Group and M Group Energy, in particular, has been a great places to work. The people, the values, and the loyalty are second to none. In every section I've been in, from cells to operations to training, the dedication to success is evident. If you need help, support, or guidance, there's always someone willing to reach out. Overall, I find it difficult to find any negativity within the business. M Group is fantastic at what they do and what they stand for.

Highlight of your career and its impact:
The highlight of my career has always been giving my best, from ensuring standards are met at the engineer level to being a technical trainer and passing on knowledge to new starters and existing engineers. Seeing new starters use the tools I've given them and put them into practice gives me an immense sense of satisfaction.
