Archie Norman became Chairman of M Group in 2024. With an extensive track record in business change and value creation, he’s a strong advocate for the role of people and culture in long-term business success.
Bringing a wealth of commercial expertise to the business, Archie led Asda as Chief Executive and Chairman, later becoming Chairman of Marks and Spencer. He’s also been Chairman of ITV and a management consultant with McKinsey.
Within infrastructure, Archie was a director with Railtrack and Chairman of the telecommunication business, Energis.
A former Shadow Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, he was MP for Tunbridge Wells for eight years. He also co-founded the think tank Policy Exchange.
He was the lead non-executive board member at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) for four years, until 2020.
