Our team had reached new heights in helping people be better connected, with the completion of a major 5G infrastructure transformation at the prestigious Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.
Working on behalf of Cornerstone, our team worked to deliver this significant project by:
· Relocating Vodafone and VMO2 antennas to optimise their positioning.
· Upgrading the site’s infrastructure from 4G to 5G.
· Installing robust new steelwork to support the enhanced system.
The project brought a unique set of challenges. Due to the old antennas and steelwork being located on the side of the building, our specialist abseil team was needed to remove the equipment in a way that kept our people and the public safe. Our team then worked to safely install the upgraded equipment on the roof of the hotel.
In making sure there was minimal disruption for hotel guests, operations were carefully scheduled and restricted to specific hours. Our team worked in close collaboration with hotel management to align activities with the hotel’s event calendar, maintaining seamless operations to avoid interference with the venue’s schedule.
The completion of this project has delivered 5G capabilities, offering improved connectivity and faster speeds. This upgrade will benefit the communities surrounding the hotel, providing a more reliable and enhanced network experience.
Ranjit Cooner, Operations Director at M Group Telecom said: “This significant project highlights our ability to deliver innovative and technically challenging solutions for our clients, while maintaining the high standards of safety, efficiency and collaboration that we’re known for. We look forward to delivering similar successes in the future.”
Miranda van Gestel, Chief Customer Officer, Cornerstone: “We’re pleased to see the successful completion of this upgrade at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, which, on behalf of our customers, Vodafone and VMO2, brings the benefits of 5G connectivity to guests, staff and the wider community in central London. This was a complex project, and M Group’s expertise and close collaboration with our team ensured it was delivered safely and with minimal disruption. It’s a great example of how strong partnerships enable us to provide the infrastructure that helps to keep people and businesses connected.”
