We’ve been shortlisted in two categories at this year’s Utility Week Awards.
The first shortlisting, in the Carbon Reduction category, is for M Group Energy’s Project Levi. The project has enabled our team of over 1,000 data collectors across the UK to operate more sustainably when supporting customers through the introduction of a digital optimisation tool. This tool integrates with existing systems to plot carbon‑efficient driving and recommended alternative walking routes for our team.
Since introducing the tool, we’ve reduced road miles by 622,037 in the past year and helped lower CO2e from metering operations by approximately 255,657 kg.
Our second shortlisting, in the Infrastructure Delivery category, recognises M Group Water’s Millenium Main project. The Lewisham-based project used a hybrid VIP‑WECO internal pipe‑sealing approach instead of a full steel‑pipe replacement. This trenchless rehabilitation-maintained pipeline capacity, minimised disruption and delivered faster repairs.
The team also supported the local community through material donations and volunteering, while prioritising high standards of safety and engagement throughout.
Andrew Hunt, Director of ESG and Innovation at M Group, said: “These projects demonstrate how targeted investment in technology and alternative delivery methods can reduce carbon, save costs and improve outcomes for our clients, customers and communities. We’re incredibly proud to see our two projects shortlisted at this year’s Utility Week Awards.”
The ceremony will take place on Tuesday 2 December at Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
