M Group Water is pleased to announce the successful extension of its leakage detection contract with South West Water, securing a further 12 months on the existing three-year framework.

This extension will see the framework through to October 2026, reflecting the ongoing progress of both M Group and South West Water to drive down water leakage and deliver enhanced value to communities across the South West.

Under the extended agreement, M Group Water will continue to deploy up to 57 leakage technicians daily, delivering over 100,000 expert hours each year.

This extension will see M Group Water support South West Water in identifying and addressing more than 13,000 leaks annually across water mains and associated infrastructure within the Bournemouth Water and South West Water regions, including the counties of Cornwall, Devon and parts of Dorset and Somerset, serving approximately 1.8 million customers.

With a shared goal to reduce leakage by an additional 15% by 2025, M Group has supported South West Water in introducing a number of innovative methods over the three-year contract, including employing more leak detection specialists, ensuring a 24/7 rapid response capability and using the latest detection technologies such as drones, remote sensors and other advance logging devices to accurately pinpoint leaks.

“This extension marks the strengthened relationship between us and South West Water to deliver innovative, forward-thinking techniques to support its wider environmental strategy, helping to conserve water, meet targets and address the challenges posed by climate change.”
