We’ve completed significant engineering works at Queenstown Road Station, including the construction of a new entrance at the rear of the station foyer, to make access to the station easier for commuters.

Working on behalf of Taylor Wimpey, we’ve used the expertise of our rail and access team and mechanical and electrical teams to deliver works to the busy station in south-west London on time.

As part of this project, our teams worked to complete a new entrance at the rear of the existing station foyer, to allow pedestrian access from Patcham Terrace. The works delivered included:

·       Reducing the ground level in the rear courtyards.

·       Rerouting existing drainage systems.

·       Constructing a new reinforced concrete slab and steps that connect the Patcham Terrace level to the new courtyard level.

·       Creating a new doorway at the rear of the station foyer.

Working to deliver the project effectively and efficiently, our teams have worked closely to:

·       Reallocate the stations electrical distribution board

·        Install new CCTV for enhanced security

·       Remove the existing water closet

·       Modify an existing accessible water closet to improve its use.

In giving back to the community surrounding the project, we’ve worked with Thrive Battersea, a charity that uses gardening to support individuals with disabilities. Our teams installed several fence posts and panels, donated by our supply chain, Woodbridge Civil Engineering as well as  installing a bicycle rack to promote active travel and de-weeding the site.

William Carter, Commercial Manager at M Group Rail & Aviation, said: “ This project showcases what can be achieved when we collaborate, both with our client and supply chain but also within our capability teams across M Group. We know that the second entrance to the station has been highly anticipated by the public and we hope that the improvements make the station a more enjoyable experience.”
