Recently, our M Group Highways Oxfordshire team hosted Jose Landicho, a Year 10 work experience student from John Henry Newman School in Birmingham.
Jose has an interest in pursuing a career in engineering, following in the footsteps of his sister, Keira Landicho, who is a first-year civil engineering degree apprentice at M Group.
Throughout the week, Jose worked alongside the structural maintenance design team, creating drawings with AutoCAD, doing C” surveys and using different websites to find what utilities lie under the road.
The placement also include a tour of our Drayton depot and visit to sites in Thame, Henley and Oxford. This gave Jose the opportunity to see different areas of highways work, including defect repair with the dragon patcher, complex reconstruction projects at Cherwell Street and traffic management at the Henley Regatta.
Our design team was delighted to welcome Jose to our business, as the third work experience student to be hosted by the team this year.
Following their work experience with our bridges team in March, Bobby Mott, a T Level student from Henley College, applied to join our degree apprenticeship programme. We’re thrilled that he has been successful and will be joining us as a degree apprentice in autumn.
Across M Group Highways, we provide opportunities to inspire, train and develop the next generation of highways operatives.
