ESG I Supporting more sustainable journeys with the opening of Manchester Charging Oasis

This Net Zero Week (5-11 July 2025), we’re proud to celebrate the official opening of the flagship Manchester Charging Oasis.

Delivered on behalf of Be.EV, the project has seen our M Group Energy EV team install 10 150kW dual chargers, serving 12 parking bays, significantly boosting Manchester’s electric vehicle (EV) charging capacity.

As principal contractor, we worked with the Be.EV design team to come up with an end-to-end solution that could be delivered on budget and on time.  Built on a plot of land which was a derelict petrol station, we’ve worked collaboratively with our client and supply chain partners to design the new electrical infrastructure, deliver project management , build a single storey retail unit and build and install the EV hub.

To make sure the new charging was safe, we conducted testing and commissioning including electrical safety inspections, torque checks, labelling of cables and wires.

The new infrastructure brings reliable and efficient charging to the Oldham Road area of Manchester supporting the wider adoption of electric vehicles.

In line with our clients and our own sustainability objectives, the site included the installation of solar panels, a rainwater harvesting tank to supply recycled water to the toilets, asphalt made from recycled tyres, 8,000 locally sourced reclaimed bricks for retaining walls and over 2,000 plants and shrubs with self-watering irrigation.
