As part of the Caledonia Water Alliance (CWA), a joint venture between M Group Water and AECOM, we’ve completed a major £6.25 million upgrade of the Waste Water Treatment Works in the village of Edgehead, Midlothian.

Delivered over 18 months, the project strengthens the local waste-water network, improves operational resilience and reduces environmental risk for the community.

What we’ve delivered across the project:

  • New inlet screen to improve solids removal.
  • New septic tank and HUMUS unit for enhanced treatment performance.
  • New chemical dosing unit and a Submerged Aerated Filter (SAF) for improved process control.
  • Full electrical fit-out to modern standards.
  • Community-sensitive design.

The wall along the outside of the treatment works was constructed with the original stone to maintain continuity and help with the overall aesthetics of the works when viewed from street level. This careful approach maintains continuity in the local streetscape while housing the upgraded facilities.

As part of the Caledonia Water Alliance, we’re proud to be working with Scottish Water to secure the resilience of the waste-water network for years to come, protecting the local environment by delivering more reliable, modern treatment infrastructure.
