M Group Chief Executive, Andrew Findlay, has been appointed Co-Chair of the Energy & Utility Skills Partnership CEO Council.
This milestone reflects a shared commitment between the Energy & Utility Skills Partnership (EUSP) and M Group to build a skilled, diverse workforce capable of meeting the UK’s critical infrastructure challenges, addressing sector-wide skills shortages, and supporting the national transition to net zero.
The Energy & Utility Skills Partnership CEO Council unites chief executives and managing directors from across the energy, water, and waste industries. The Council turns shared priorities into coordinated action that shapes national policy, guides investment, and keeps skills development at the heart of the UK’s clean growth and infrastructure agenda.
With a new strategy confirmed and strengthened leadership, the CEO Council will reinforce its position as the sector’s authoritative skills voice, shaping priorities, informing government, and securing the workforce necessary to deliver for individuals, families, communities, and industry.
Meeting the UK’s net zero ambitions will require around 312,000 new recruits by 2030. M Group is already delivering measurable progress. Across the Group, 6.4% of its total workforce are currently undertaking formal Earn and Learn programmes, including graduate schemes and apprenticeships.
M Group has also recently reconfirmed its commitment to inclusive workplaces through The 5% club silver membership and is a proud holder of the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme award.
As Co-Chair alongside Nicola Connelly, CEO of SP Energy Networks, Andrew will champion deeper collaboration between industry, training providers, and government, driving alignment on safety standards, high-quality apprenticeships, and robust workforce pipelines. His ambition is to raise sector visibility, attract new talent, and further promote employer-led, inclusive training.
The CEO Council, alongside M Group, will focus on delivering measurable outcomes: increased apprenticeship starts, improved retention, and transparent career pathways, so the sector can meet climate goals, support communities, and drive sustainable economic growth.
Andrew Findlay, Chief Executive of M Group, said: "I'm excited to be collaborating with Nicola to drive professional development and promote inclusive career pathways across our sector, building a sustainable workforce ready to meet the UK's evolving infrastructure needs for its people, the economy and the environment.”
